Romantic Rustic Glam Master Bedroom

Romantic Rustic Glam Master Bedroom

Rustic Design is always associated with comfy cozy interiors with distressed furniture, exposed beams and simple textures. It is a design that keeps reinventing itself time and time again and never seems to go out of style.

Adding modern touches to a room can breathe new life into a worn, outdated yet timeless design and make it look refreshed and new again, however doing this without straying too far from the design itself is key to balancing two design styles.

The concept for this Master Bedroom was to update to a more modern sophisticated rustic space, by keeping it warm and inviting while maintaining a respect for raw materials, structures and architectural elements.

Refreshing the space called for enclosing some of the ceiling rafters and leaving one central beam exposed, although this helped to provide for a lighter brighter space and somewhat larger spacial area it didn’t take away from the true character of the room.

Warm color tones in Benjamin Moore’s Simply White and Annapolis Gray made for a soothing neutral contrast while highlighting the architectural details in the ceiling, the wood accent wall and flooring, the perfect canvas from which to build the design.

Custom fabrics if within your budget are a great way to find exactly what you want. We anticipated a color palette of choice, but couldn’t quite find ready made bedding and pillows to correspond. So in this case, these fabrics we choose from Perigold and The Online Fabric Store paired beautifully with the furniture and paint selections, each offering a corresponding pattern that adds visual interest and depth to this peaceful, serene retreat. Tip: When purchasing fabrics online, request a sample first, as colors on a computer can vary to that of the original swatch.

Adding modern elements can be done in a variety of ways, the idea is to keep things simple, declutter, use light and neutral colors then add mid-century modern or industrial style fixtures and accents.

For this, we used a mixture of metallic and glass lighting styles (I love a little sparkle) to create a couple of layers of lighting, from the Acrylic & Brass Table Lamps to the Antique Brass Sputnik Ceiling fixture, this combination against the dark wood bedroom furniture added spontaneity and a touch of glam while preventing the space from becoming old-fashioned and dated.

Finally, add some finishing touches, modern abstract or simple framed artwork, a vintage mirror to break up an empty wall and those all important decorative pillows, all paramount additions to bring a design together.
