Creating a Classic Romantic Master Bedroom
What ‘s your idea of a romantic bedroom? Soft textures, mood lighting and a luxurious atmosphere? Depending on your personality, it could be conceived in many a different way, that’s the true beauty of being able to incorporate your own vibes into a beautifully designed space. Besides, the bedroom is considered a very personal and intimate space, so make sure it makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. Consider this and I am quoting “Google” that you can spend approximately 26 years sleeping in your life which equates to 9,490 days or 227,760 hours, so you better have a room you can relax in, or at the very least a comfortable mattress! :-)
So lets take a look into how to make your bedroom romantic and some of the things you can consider as you navigate your design.
Color - Usually this is the first and foremost thing to decide on when starting your design, because after all, color has a huge effect on our personality and what one might consider inviting and relaxing, the other might consider the complete opposite. So there really is no one color scheme associated with a romantic bedroom, its really about how a color makes you feel. You might be the type of person that likes the feeling of a light, bright and fresh space with neutral colors and organic elements an overall delicate and ethereal feel to a space. Then again your personality might interpret romantic as a little more bold, dramatic or even sexy!
Area Rugs & Throw Pillows - Bring on the pillows and throws, and soft wool area rugs, nothing says comfort and cozy like these item to curl up in and just veg. Find pillows of varying sizes that are soft and squishy and ones that you can manipulate and bend, you gotta have some pillows you can just sink in too! The same holds true of a soft, plush area rug that is sensuous and inviting and that your toes sink into when you get out of bed.
Light Fixtures - It is so important to incorporate “mood” lighting in a romantic bedroom or any style bedroom for that matter. Lighting can instantly change the look and feel of a space from day to night. Consider attractive dimmable light fixtures, this feature allows you to create a relaxed ambience and is ideal to transition your body to relax at night. Look for attractive table lamps and floor lamps, or track lighting systems, these are all perfect ideas for setting the mood.
Artwork & Decor - Infuse your space with artwork and decor that is pleasing to the eye. You might be the type who likes to be one with nature, so prints with subtle colors depicting elements of the outside are a good choice. Then there’s abstract artwork that can have some emotional meaning behind them and the ability to draw you in through its textures and layers.
Plants & Florals - Plants are a great way to add some decoration and color to a space. Did you know that plants help purify the air in a room and can help you sleep, plus other scents found in certain florals can also help you relax? So adding these is not only a great way to accessorize a nightstand or dresser for some added decoration or pop of color, but for your health and well being too! Some of the plants that are beneficial in this regard are the Areca Palm & Aloe Vera for air purification; and Lavender & Jasmine for their calming abilities.
Your bedroom is probably one of he most important rooms in your home, as far as a place to go and relax and to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of our busy daily lives. Whatever your design style, make it comfortable and attractive, so that you know when you need to get a way from it all, that this room is the most calming and restorative retreat it can be.
Happy Designing:-)
